What makes a good coach?

  1. Certification: Make sure your coach is certified and trained by an IFC (International Coaching Federation) approved school. IFC is the Industry gold standard! Look for the CCA logo (Certified Coaching Alliance) another sure sign of professional standards and conduct.

  2. Make sure your coach is actually coaching. Many coaches don't coach, they feel they can give advice. Real coaching is co-creative, it's about the coach helping you to reach your goals, dreams or desires, not someones else's idea about what they should be!

  3. Experience in particular field: Your coach should have experience enough to know what he or she is talking about!

  4. You should feel extremely comfortable when talking with your coach. If you don't feel right, if anything feels off to you, don't waste your money!

These guides give clients the confidence to get unstuck — to change careers, repair relationships, or simply get their act together.  "We are not talking about being incompetent or weak.  "They realize the value of having somebody to help them think outside the box." — "coaches are a new option for the worried well"  No longer do they need a diagnosis from a psychotherapist who delves into the painful past. Using the telephone or Internet, they can sign up with an upbeat life coach who becomes a partner in defining a better future.

Amid all your responsibilities, activities and projects, it's sometimes hard to see the big picture and easy to become overwhelmed or feel like you're lacking direction. That's where a life coach can come in. "If you are frustrated with an aspect of your life, not sure how to stop making the same choices you keep making or just want to have more happiness, peace of mind and passion -- life coaching can do that for you," Britten

Life coaches can specialize in areas like relationships, careers or personal growth. They promise to motivate, offer support when clients need a boost in confidence and help them decide which direction to take.
